We are incredibly proud to announce that Alu-Cab has been featured in Africa Outlook magazine. This article explores the strategies, challenges and triumphs that have defined our journey over the past two years.
For a brand that exists to “Make It Better” this is recognition of our building a resilient, forward-thinking company. A company that doesn’t just make the ultimate overland gear, but that’s capable of navigating the ever-changing global landscape too.
Here are some of the key highlights from the feature.

Navigating a Shifting Market with Strategic Agility
The post-pandemic world saw a shift in the adventure market, with many competitors struggling to adapt. As our CEO, Warwick Leslie, noted, the challenge was navigating the slowdown after the initial boom. However, Alu-Cab saw an opportunity within the challenge. A burgeoning interest in the adventure travel category. This spurred us to evolve, diversify, and solidify our industry-leading position.
Streamlining for a Stronger Future
A major focus since 2023 has been the consolidation and refinement of our manufacturing operations. We are in the final stages of a significant consolidation, moving from 15 units down to just three state-of-the-art facilities. This strategic move has allowed us to increase our operational space from 16,000 sqm to 24,000 sqm. While also integrating advanced technology into our processes.
The result? Enhanced competitiveness without passing costs onto our customer. A landmark achievement in this effort is the upcoming completion of our new automated powder coating plant. This move brings more of our production under one roof for superior quality control and efficiency.

Expanding Our Product Portfolio
This increased capability fuels our product development. We’ve proudly expanded our top-tier ModCAP range, allowing us to keep our product lineup streamlined and effective. We’ve also grown our collection of soft goods, bags and accessories. This provides new adventurers with a more accessible entry point into the Alu-Cab family.
A Foundation Built on Quality and Ethics
Our commitment to quality is unwavering. As Purchasing Manager Shaun Leibowitz emphasized, we source high-quality materials and work with bespoke suppliers for unique components. Every product undergoes rigorous testing, including pressure and water spray tests, to ensure it’s truly built for the wild.
Our supply chain is also built on a commitment to high ethical standards, encompassing human rights, environmental responsibility and unwavering quality.

Overcoming Global Complexities
From logistical hurdles in Australia to recent US export tariffs, the global market presents constant challenges. Our response has been one of innovation and partnership. We’ve launched our own venture in Australia to better control brand presence and customer experience. Likewise we’re working closely with our US partners to mitigate the impact of tariffs, ensuring we remain competitive worldwide.
Our Commitment Goes Beyond Manufacturing
We believe in adventuring with a purpose. Through our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives, we support vital conservation and research efforts across Africa. We’ve equipped organisations like the Freshwater Research Centre and National Park Rescue with our gear for critical fieldwork and anti-poaching operations. Our long-standing partnership with the Endangered Wildlife Trust has seen our Canopy Camper serve as an emergency bush clinic, most notably in the rescue of 84 vultures.

Forging Ahead
As we look to the future, Alu-Cab remains focused on expansion, innovation and customer-centricity. We are continuously assessing how to make our products more dealer-friendly and easier to install. We’re also launching new key products designed for specific global territories.
We are immensely grateful to our dedicated team and our trusted network of suppliers and dealers. Mostly, we’re grateful to our global community of adventurers for making this journey possible. Being featured in Africa Outlook is an accolade. It’s also a reflection of our collective effort to build, innovate and explore.
