Living the Brand & Building Community

Living the Brand & Building Community
4 Min read

At Alu-Cab, we don’t just manufacture, distribute and in Campbell Malherbe’s case, sell, the ultimate overland gear. We live it. Our team thrives on adventure and is always looking for opportunities to use our product.

That’s why Campbell recently participated in an overlanding trip hosted by Stone Tribe International. The community-driven experience brought together industry leaders and overlanding enthusiasts. It was full of opportunities for connection, camaraderie and proved why Alu-Cab stands out in the world of overlanding.

Where Communities Collide

The Reliving Adventure Group, spearheaded by Stone Tribe, is a tight-knit community of overlanders, industry experts, and 4×4 enthusiasts.

“They get industry people from tyre merchants to suspension, you name it,” says Campbell. “We all get together and talk shop, cars and innovations. Packed into a weekend in the bush, putting the products we build to the test and comparing products on other builds. Needless to say our Alu-Cab rigs always take the cake!”

The journey took the group through Gansbaai’s rugged mountains, beaches and gravel roads, with wild camping under the stars. No ablution-blocks. Just raw, unfiltered adventure. And a spade.

Why This Trip Stood Out

For Campbell it was all about the people.

“The trip was different from others I have been on, purely because of the people I was with. Good wholesome folks who work in the industry and have a lot of stories to tell.”

One of the highlights? Fixing a friend’s Jimny with a bush mechanic’s ingenuity.

“The best part of the trip was putting a friend’s Jimny back together with cable ties, braai wood, tie downs and a wrench. His mounting case snapped in half but it was nothing a group of bush mechanics couldn’t fix. He swears it’ll last longer than if he fixes it properly!”

“It is times like this, sitting under a cars that’s dug deep in the sand, learning and laughing, that you never forget.”

Alu-Cab in the Wild

While the trip was packed with challenges, it also reinforced why Alu-Cab is the go-to choice for serious overlanders.

Speed & Simplicity

“Getting to camp and setting up in minutes confirmed why I love Alu-Cab, being the first in and first out is always amazing. Especially while the other guys are finding the right spot and direction to face their tents.”

Comfort Where It Counts

“Getting to the site and being able to set up camp without a ground sheet, without flattening the ground completely and without ablutions or showers, I spent the night lavishly, with our shower cube and roof conversion, along with the awning and kitchen cupboard. What more do you need?”

Gear That Speaks for Itself

“One comment that stuck with me was when a guy on the trip, with a kitted out Defender, who had every accessory on it, said around the fire that while he’d spent thousands on his rig he still wanted our roof conversion and accessories.”

The Power of Community

The strength of the overlanding community is how you’re never alone and everyone has your back.

“Fear of the unknown is part of the adventure. I had some doubts, due to my lack of experience, but after the trip I will go back a thousand times over. Nothing better than overcoming a fear and turning it into a strength!”

The Future?

This trip sparked an idea…

“I have given it a lot of thought, and would really love to start a group where I lead trips so that others may experience the ultimate overland gear. My dream is to start a community to help get people out there. The trip affirmed my beliefs in our product and how we’re selling a lifestyle. Something that can evolve depending on the gear you choose. Something that can take you all over the world.”

We don’t just sell gear. We live it, we love it, and we’re proud to share it with you.
